Affirming by default

Here, it's the starting point.

Many LGBTQ+ adults have learned to brace before a medical visit. Correcting a name, scanning for the reaction, deciding how much to share. That vigilance costs energy that belongs to your actual health.

At this practice, your chart uses your name. Visits use your pronouns. Intake forms ask instead of assume, and the clinical thinking accounts for the realities LGBTQ+ patients live with. None of that is announced in the room. It's just how the room works.

What that looks like

  • Intake that asks your name, pronouns, and identity, then uses them
  • Correct clinical terminology, without a tutorial from you
  • Gender-affirming care addressed with clinical depth
  • Prescribing that accounts for everything you take, including hormones
  • Referrals to affirming specialists and therapists when that's the right tool

The clinical picture

Minority stress is real, and it's treatable.

LGBTQ+ adults experience anxiety, depression, and substance-use concerns at higher rates, and the research points at minority stress as a driver, meaning discrimination, rejection, and the wear of staying on guard. The identity isn't the illness. The grind is.

Treatment here names that directly. An evaluation looks at how stress, sleep, mood, and safety interact in your life as it actually is, and the plan gets built for that life. When dedicated therapy belongs in the picture, you'll get a real referral to an affirming therapist, not a shrug.

Telehealth

Affirming care, wherever you are.

Telehealth visits are available in Texas, Maryland, Florida, Virginia, Delaware, Washington, California, and DC, when clinically appropriate. If the nearest affirming prescriber is a long drive away, video closes the distance. You choose the private space, and the visit is the same visit.

Common questions

What does affirming care mean at this practice?

Your identity is treated as context the team works with, never a problem to explain. That shows up in intake language, pronouns used correctly, clinical terminology handled properly, and treatment planning that accounts for minority stress.

Do I need to educate my provider on LGBTQ+ basics?

No. The practice is LGBTQ+ affirming, trauma-informed, and neurodiversity-aware by design, and gender-affirming care is addressed with clinical depth. Your visit time goes to your health.

Do you see patients who are questioning?

Yes. Questions are welcome, and there's no agenda on the other side of them. Care meets you where you are, whatever you do or don't have figured out yet.

Is this a therapy practice?

The core services are psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and primary care. Visits leave room for skills-based conversation, and when dedicated therapy is the right tool, you'll get a referral to an affirming therapist.

Does insurance cover these visits?

The visits are billed as the clinical services they are. Psychiatric care, primary care, weight management. We're in-network with major plans, and coverage is not guaranteed until benefits are verified.
